Cardiff Halls of Residence - How To Apply

The University has agreements with student accommodation providers Liberty Living to provide private halls of residence places for students studying at the ATRiuM and Atlantic House in Cardiff. Students studying at Treforest can also apply for place in our Cardiff based accommodation at Liberty Bridge or Liberty Park run by Liberty Living. Please note that students who are studying at our Atrium campus will be given priority for Liberty Bridge and Liberty Park. All rooms are non smoking.

*You can apply for places in our Cardiff halls of residence online . IMPORTANT NOTE: Please make sure that you use an email address that you will be able to access at all times (i.e. do not use a college or school email address that you will no longer be able to access or have limited access to during July – September), you should also take care to enter your email address correctly.

Allocating you a room

Once we have received your application for accommodation it be held at the University awaiting confirmation of your place. Please be aware that all applications for accommodation are processed on a first come first served basis.

Rooms will be offered on the following two factors:

  1. Date of which we receive your application.
  2. The date that your place at University has been confirmed through UCAS.

Please make sure that you read all of the information thoroughly and be careful to complete the online application form correctly. Incorrect or incomplete application forms may jeopardise your chance of securing a room. Please ensure you do not use a school or college email address and that the email address you enter is correct.

  • Your room will be allocated once your place at University has been confirmed. If you have an Unconditional Firm offer at University then please state this on the online application form. Where possible, we will take into account the preferences you have stated; however, requests cannot be guaranteed.
  • Before you are confirmed at University and sent an offer of accommodation from Liberty Living you can find more information the website www.libertyliving.co.uk . You can also download Liberty Living’s Guide To Living
  • On confirmation of your place at University, you will be sent an offer of accommodation to the email address provided on your online application form. You have only 7 days in which to reply to the offer. The email will contain a link to the Liberty Living Online Booking Service where you can confirm your room.
  • A contract will be sent to your email address to confirm the booking. In addition we will need the following posted to the Liberty Living residence:
    1. Signed Guarantor Form, this is a PDF attachment found in the confirmation email alongside your contract.
    2. Current Council Tax Bill in the name and address of your guarantor. The name of the guarantor must match the name on the Council tax bill.
    3. 2 x passport sized photographs
  • We will send you an email containing some useful information to help make your stay at Liberty Living as comfortable as possible. The email will contain details including the best time for you to move in and what time the on-site office will be open at your chosen Liberty Living residence.

Please note: Once you have made a booking with your chosen Liberty Living residence, you cannot then move to another Liberty Living residence unless you find a replacement tenant to take over your contract. There is also a cancellation charge of £100.00. Please see cancellation policy within your terms and conditions.

Step Three – Moving In

  • On arrival at your accommodation you will be issued with a ‘Welcome Pack’ which will contain your keys/entry card and a Guide to Living in our accommodation. It is important that you read and understand all of the information provided. A copy is also available on the Liberty Living website
  • In the event that you cannot make the time / date listed on your arrival email, please contact the Residence Team as soon as possible to make alternative arrangements. Contact details are listed within this document and can be found on the website – www.libertyliving.co.uk

Please note: If we are missing important documentation to complete your student file, you will have to be processed through our queries queue on the day you move in. This will take considerably longer to check in, so we urge every customer to post all documentation 2 weeks prior to the contract start date.

Arriva Trains Wales rail pass deal

34% Discount on Annual Train Season Tickets for the University of South Wales Group Students

As part of the University of South Wales Group (USW, RWCMD, Merthyr Tydfil College) Travel Plan and in conjunction with Arriva Trains Wales, we are able to offer a 34% discount on Student Annual Train Season Tickets. Tickets are only available where Arriva Trains Wales services operate but are valid for travel on the Valley Lines route services. Purchasing your ticket can be carried out at any staffed station within the Valley Lines route, not through the University. Once you have the price and enrolled, visit your Faculty Advice Shop to obtain a 'Discounted Annual Season Ticket Scheme’ letter. Take this letter, together with your enrolment card, a passport sized photo and your payment to any staffed station within the Valley Lines route.
